Basketball Game Preview: Winn Mavericks vs. South San Antonio Bobcats

The Winn Mavericks will head out on the road to take on the South San Antonio Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Winn has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 5.

On Friday, Winn took a blow against Southside, falling 64-23. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1214th, while the Cardinals are ranked 200th).

Meanwhile, 2025 welcomed South San Antonio with a 56-35 loss courtesy of Harlandale on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Indians: they've now lost four in a row.

Winn's defeat dropped their record down to 4-21. As for South San Antonio, their loss dropped their record down to 14-12.

Winn took a serious blow against South San Antonio when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 62-25. Can Winn avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
