Baseball Game Preview: Page Pirates vs. Salisbury Hornets

The Page Pirates will face off against the Salisbury Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Page turned things around against Western Guilford on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over the Hornets. The Pirates not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th.

The team relied heavily on Bo Cooke, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Page's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Liam Comer, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Salisbury). They blew past South Davidson 17-4 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.

Page's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 4-9. As for Salisbury, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.
