The Belton-Honea Path Bears will head out on the road to take on the Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Belton-Honea Path was able to grind out a solid win over Palmetto, taking the game 9-5. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Preston Dixon was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Jakari Anderson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
Belton-Honea Path was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Christ Church Episcopal). They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Carolina Academy on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cavaliers.
Robert Howell looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bo Lowrance, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Brady Cisson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
The win got Christ Church Episcopal back to even at 5-5. As for Belton-Honea Path, their record is now 5-7.
Belton-Honea Path's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's matchup. Belton-Honea Path has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Christ Church Episcopal, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Belton-Honea Path continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Belton-Honea Path's way against Christ Church Episcopal when the teams last played on March 11th, as Belton-Honea Path made off with a 6-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Belton-Honea Path since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
