Softball Game Preview: Scranton Knights vs. Crestwood Comets

The Scranton Knights will square off against the Crestwood Comets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Scranton has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 19.

Scranton fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Scranton Prep on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 7-6.

Meanwhile, Crestwood fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Pittston on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 10-4. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brooke Lenahan spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and six unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madison Mendrzycki was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season.

Scranton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Crestwood, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
