Basketball Recap: Ninety Six Gets the Win

Ninety Six won the last time they faced Pelion, and Janiyah Squire did her part to make sure it happened again. The Ninety Six Wildcats were the clear victor by a 52-31 margin over the Pelion Panthers on Friday thanks in part to Squire, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 24 boards. Her evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Bella Stewart, who posted six points along with ten rebounds and four steals. Those four steals gave her a new career-high.

Ninety Six's record is now 9-6. As for Pelion, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Ninety Six Wildcats duke it out with the Batesburg-Leesville Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Ninety Six's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Batesburg-Leesville has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for Pelion, they will host Saluda at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
