Potlatch is a perfect 3-0 against Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Brieanna Winther tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Hayley McNeal was a standout: she scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played dating back to last season. Olivia Smith was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Potlatch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] came up short against Clearwater Valley on Thursday, falling 14-3.
Kairys Grant made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Laramie Finnell, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.
Potlatch's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.3 runs over those games. As for Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce], their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce]'s hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Potlatch has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce], though, as they've been averaging only 2.8 strikeouts. Will Potlatch keep running through batters, or will Lewis County co-op [Highland/Nezperce] buck the trend?
