Baseball Game Preview: Othello Huskies vs. Chiawana Riverhawks

The Othello Huskies will square off against the Chiawana Riverhawks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Othello sitting on three straight wins and Chiawana on seven.

Othello's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Prosser as Othello made off with a 10-0 victory. The contest marked the Huskies' most dominant win of the season so far.

The team relied heavily on Rjay Garza, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Ryan Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Othello always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prosser only posted an OBP of .235.

Meanwhile, Chiawana won against Hermiston on Friday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Chiawana was the clear victor by an 11-5 margin over Hermiston.

Chiawana's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Othello, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Othello came out on top in a nail-biter against Chiawana in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Does Othello have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chiawana turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
