Softball Game Preview: Rustburg Red Devils vs. Brookville Bees

Rustburg has gone 8-2 against Brookville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Red Devils will host the Bees at 7:00 p.m. Rustburg's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Brookville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Rustburg is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since March 21st on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Amherst County, sneaking past 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Devils.

Laila Bigham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rustburg's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nahla Bigham, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Brookville came up short against Jefferson Forest on Friday and fell 6-1. The Bees have struggled against the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Rustburg's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Brookville, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
