Baseball Game Preview: Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic Friars/Pandas vs. Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Blue Devils

The Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic Friars/Pandas will square off against the Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Blue Devils at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Springside Chestnut Hill Academy took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic, who comes in off a win.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic and Father Judge meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Friars/Pandas never let the Crusaders get on the board and left with a 7-0 win.

Father Judge's batters probably weren't too happy with Jack Redding, who pitched a no hitter (he gave up two walks).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryan Friel, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Luke Albarano also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy came up short against La Salle College on Thursday and fell 5-2.

Paul Cifra was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-2. As for Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over Springside Chestnut Hill Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2022, winning 3-0.
