Oberlin had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. Their rough 16-6 loss to the Lutheran West Longhorns on Monday might stick with them for a while. The defeat means Oberlin is still on the hunt for the season's first 'W'.

For Lutheran West's part, Leslie Sullivan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Sullivan was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, and three runs.

In other batting news, Larissa Sulllivan was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Emmy Hayes was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Oberlin will be playing in front of their home fans against Elyria at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lutheran West, they will head out on the road to face off against Clearview at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
