Baseball Recap: Hobbton Takes a Loss

After flying high against Union last Thursday, Hobbton came back down to earth. Hobbton fell just short of the Pender Patriots by a score of 6-5 on Monday. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 12-0.

Hobbton got a big performance out of Kade Corbett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Corbett has posted since back in February. Ayden Lawson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

With the loss, Hobbton broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-3. As for Pender, they moved to 3-8 with that win, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

Coming up, Hobbton will challenge North Duplin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hobbton's pitchers better be ready for this one: North Duplin has averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Pender, they will square off against Whiteville at 7:00 p.m. on the 8th.
