Baseball Recap: Tug Valley Comes Up Short

Tug Valley dropped their record down to 9-10 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Wayne Pioneers by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pioneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 back in March.

Tug Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Fitzpatrick, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Wayne, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 24, 2024.

On Wayne's side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Thompson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Thompson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Dyer, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tug Valley will square off against East Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wayne, they will take on Hoover at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Pioneers surely won't give up without a fight.
