Recap: Frankfort Hot Dogs vs. Southmont Mounties

The Frankfort Hot Dogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Southmont, falling 62-32. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Frankfort has suffered since December 18, 2023.

Frankfort lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Vannessa Guardado, who scored nine points along with 15 rebounds and five steals. Guardado is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played.

Delorean Mason continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Southmont, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 11 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mason has scored at least a third of Southmont's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Link, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and seven steals.

Frankfort's defeat was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-20. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.3 points per game. As for Southmont, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-7.

Frankfort will head out on the road to take on Logansport at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Logansport is ranked 361st, while Frankfort is ranked 373rd). As for Southmont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crawfordsville at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Crawfordsville comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
