Basketball Recap: Prattville Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Xavier Dunn and Tanner Ehmen

If Prattville was riding high fresh off their 72-41 takedown of Autaugaville last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Prattville Lions fell 68-59 to the Marbury Bulldogs on Friday. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2020.

Tanner Ehmen and Xavier Dunn certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Ehmen dropped a double-double on 11 points and 22 boards, while Dunn posted 20 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The dominant performance gave Ehmen a new career-high in boards. Cameron Lewis was another key player, putting up 11 points along with five assists and three steals.

Even though they lost, Prattville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Marbury's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacob Driver led the charge by posting 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamar Brown, who put up 16 points.

Prattville's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Marbury, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season.

Prattville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 76-65 loss against Wetumpka on the 14th. As for Marbury, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Booker T. Washington Magnet at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
