Softball Recap: Green River Takes a Loss

Green River had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-5 to make it seven. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rock Springs TIGERS. That's two games in a row now that the Wolves have lost by exactly four runs.

As for Rock Springs, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-12-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games.

For Rock Springs' part, the result came thanks to Rilynn Wester's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up nine Ks. Wester has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Makyla Sweeney and Kyndall Turnwall did most of the damage at the plate: Sweeney went 1-for-4 with one home run, while Turnwall went 1-for-2 with one home run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Rock Springs beat Green River by a score of 6-5 later that day.
