Basketball Recap: John Paul II Catholic Takes a Loss

John Paul II Catholic and GRACE Christian squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but John Paul II Catholic had to settle for second. They fell 51-38 to the GRACE Christian Eagles. The defeat continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

When it comes to explaining why John Paul II Catholic lost, don't look at Jamal Biggs. Despite the final result, he posted 21 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Phoenix Balot, who earned five points.

GRACE Christian was led to victory by Eli Nelson and Malachi Tate. Nelson put up 12 points, while Tate went 5-for-8 to rack up 10 points and seven rebounds. Nelson is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Knight, who scored five points.

John Paul II Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for GRACE Christian, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-17.

John Paul II Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for GRACE Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-60 win against Calvary Day School on the 13th.
