Football Recap: Hillsboro Comes Up Short

After flying high against Venus last Friday, Hillsboro came back down to earth. The Eagles were dealt a 56-14 loss at the hands of the Glen Rose Tigers on Friday. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-6.

Although Hillsboro took the loss, they still got scores from Braylen Benson and Kaden Grim.

Even if they lost, Hillsboro's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Javien Blue and Trevor Clark, who racked up four sacks between them. Clark also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten.

It was another big night for Judd Connally, who rushed for 26 yards and three TDs, and also threw for 265 yards and one touchdown while completing 80% of his passes for Glen Rose. Connally has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played.

Hillsboro's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Glen Rose, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hillsboro is set to face off against their familiar foe Benbrook at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Glen Rose will square off against rival Venus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
