Baseball Recap: Seneca Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

There's no place like home for Seneca, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the De Soto Pirates on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Indians also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2025.

The team relied heavily on Sawyer Swiggum, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Jax Wall was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Seneca has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for De Soto, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3.

Coming up, Seneca will square off against Viroqua at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for De Soto, they will face off against North Crawford at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
