CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The defense contributed on the scoring end for
Kettle Run (Nokesville, Va.) on Saturday, totaling six points as the Cougars bested
Monticello (Charlottesville, Va.) 24-21.
The Cougars were up 17-0 at the half after taking the lead on a defensive touchdown in the first quarter.
Kettle Run saw its 17-point halftime lead fall to four entering the fourth.
KR led by as many as 17 points before the Mustangs cut into the final margin.
T.j. Tillery made a difference for Monticello. The junior running back ran for two touchdowns.
Dee Jackson played well for the Nokesville school in the victory. The junior running back ran for one touchdown.
The loss comes after Monticello defeated Western Albemarle 41-29 last week.
MHS (10-3) will play a playoff game against Kettle Run next week. The Cougars enter the contest having posted a 10-2.
