Basketball Game Preview: Bethel Academy vs. Show-Me Christian Angels

Bethel Academy will take on the Show-Me Christian Angels at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Bethel Academy is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Center Place back in December of 2024 (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Bethel Academy came up short against Center Place, falling 40-19. Bethel Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their loss, Bethel Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kayla Touokong, who posted six points along with seven rebounds and seven blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Liberty Atkins, who put up seven points.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 53-15, which was the final score in Show-Me Christian's tilt against Applewood Christian on Monday. The Angels were down 39-9 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Like Bethel Academy, Show-Me Christian lost despite seeing results from several players. Taija Jones led the charge by putting up six points and 11 boards. Abigail Randleman was another key player, posting two points and three steals.

Bethel Academy now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Show-Me Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything came up roses for Bethel Academy against Show-Me Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 65-8 win. In that matchup, Bethel Academy amassed a halftime lead of 35-4, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
