Basketball Recap: Kennedy Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

It was a proper cat-fight when Kennedy took on Woodland Christian on Saturday. The Kennedy Cougars rang in the new year with a 74-61 victory over the Woodland Christian Cardinals. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Kennedy had a senior duo take command as Jordan Lawrence posted 21 points and Aharon Young put up 18 points. The contest was Young's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Noah Hayes II was another key player, putting up ten points.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Romello Bruhn, who had 25 points. Bruhn is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last 41 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Haines, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Kennedy pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Woodland Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Kennedy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-63 victory against McClatchy on the 6th. As for Woodland Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 81-36 win against Lindhurst on the 7th.
