Baseball Recap: Evergreen Park Find Success

Evergreen Park owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They came out on top against the Shepard Astros by a score of 4-0. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Astros recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Rowan Smyth made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 18 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 18 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Robert Welcome was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

Evergreen Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Evergreen Park's record is now 23-9. As for Shepard, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-15-2 record this season.

Evergreen Park will have a chance to go back-to-back against Shepard: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
