Softball Recap: Beckville Picks Up 14th Consecutive Victory

Beckville waltzed into their contest on Thursday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. They never let the Overton Mustangs get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-2 on Tuesday.

Emily Grandgeorge made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Beckville got a massive performance out of Landrie Dennard, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave Dennard a new career-high. Brilee Brumley was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Beckville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Overton only posted an OBP of .182.

Beckville pushed their record up to 22-7-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Overton, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-10-1.

As of now, neither Beckville nor the Mustangs have any future games scheduled.
