Horizon had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Campo Verde Coyotes 3-0 on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Huskies sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Horizon not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Campo Verde between 18 and 20 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 25-20.
Isabelle (Isa) Mcilroy was the offensive standout of the match as she had 15 digs and four assists. That's the most assists she has posted since back in September. Brooklynn McNulty also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
Despite the defeat, Campo Verde saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kendal Kellar had ten digs and three assists. Kellar is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played.
Horizon's victory bumped their record up to 20-10. As for Campo Verde, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-20 record this season.
Horizon will square off against Ironwood at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Campo Verde does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
