Softball Recap: Owen J. Roberts Drops Highest Score of Season Against Norristown

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Owen J. Roberts). They never let the Norristown Eagles get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Wednesday. Considering the Wildcats have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddie Reed made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Reed was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Owen J. Roberts got a big performance out of Bella Winnick, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Emma Brotherton was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Owen J. Roberts hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory was the third in a row for Owen J. Roberts, bringing their record up to 7-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Norristown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Coming up, Owen J. Roberts will venture away from home to take on Phoenixville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Norristown, they will head out to challenge Pottsgrove at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.09 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
