While Sandwich's win against Johnsburg wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Skyhawks 4-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 back in April.
Aubrey Cyr and Brooklyn Marks made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Cyr struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Marks pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cyr has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Cyr went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Marks went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Jillian Freemon was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
Sandwich hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in six consecutive games.
The win got Sandwich back to even at 8-8. As for Johnsburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
