Soccer Recap: Elk Grove Takes a Loss

Elk Grove's tournament run continued when they took on Saint Ignatius College Prep on Saturday. The Grenadiers came up short against the Wolfpack, falling 6-2. While losing is never fun, Elk Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Saint Ignatius College Prep are ranked 52nd).

Mia Jonas and Taylor Wirtz scored both of Elk Grove's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Elk Grove has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Saint Ignatius College Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Coming up, Elk Grove will square off against Payton College Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Elk Grove are facing Payton College Prep at the right time seeing as Payton College Prep are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Saint Ignatius College Prep, they will face off against Deerfield at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Saint Ignatius College Prep's defense better be ready for this one: Deerfield have averaged an impressive 2.8 goals per game this season.
