Softball Recap: St. Ursula Academy Gets the Win

St. Ursula Academy never let their opponents score on Friday. They came out on top against the Swanton Bulldogs by a score of 5-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Arrows.

Brooke Bowers made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 contests.

Bowers wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Nissen, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Nissen has hit this season.

St. Ursula Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Swanton, their loss dropped their record down to 12-13.

St. Ursula Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Northview at 6:00 p.m. on the 20th. As for Swanton, they have already played their next matchup, an 11-8 victory against Tinora on the 10th.
