Hopewell-Loudon came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the New Riegel Blue Jackets. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 7-5 victory last Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Kellen Frankart, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Hopewell-Loudon pushed their record up to 23-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.75 runs across that stretch. As for New Riegel, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season.

Hopewell-Loudon and New Riegel are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Chieftains will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Elmwood at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hopewell-Loudon 3.5, the Royals 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for New Riegel, they will take on Arcadia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
