Volleyball Recap: Sweetwater Gets the Win

If Grape Creek wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Sweetwater, they should've done a better job of containing Lexi Maestas. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday thanks in part to Maestas, who had 13 digs and two assists. She has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.

While Sweetwater won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-23, 25-14.

The victory got Sweetwater back to even at 17-17. As for Grape Creek, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-18.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Sweetwater is set to challenge their familiar foe San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Grape Creek will take on rival Jim Ned at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
