Preview: Holtville Vikings vs. Calipatria Hornets
The Holtville Vikings will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Calipatria Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Holtville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1070th, while Calipatria is ranked 457th).
Last Tuesday, Holtville didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Southwest EC, but they still walked away with a 43-37 victory. The win was just what Holtville needed coming off of a 59-38 defeat in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Calipatria entered their tilt with Brawley with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Calipatria strolled past Brawley with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 44-27.
The victory got Holtville back to even at 9-9. As for Calipatria, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3.
Holtville came up short against Calipatria when the teams last played last Tuesday, falling 49-37. Can Holtville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
