Holden Potter was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Kolten Summers was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bear River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, while Cottonwood put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Hillcrest. The Colts were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Huskies. The win was familiar territory for the Colts, who have now won three games in a row.
Quinn Mendenhall looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Diego Martinez and Isaiah Cosby did most of the damage at the plate: Martinez went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Cosby got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominick Fuchuck, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Bear River's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Cottonwood, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.
Bear River was able to grind out a solid win over Cottonwood in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 6-1. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Colts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
