It was a good run, but Croatan unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-match winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Carteret Patriots. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 3-1.
While Croatan ultimately came up short, they really made West Carteret work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 27-25, 20-25, 25-23.
West Carteret can attribute much of their success to Anna Claire Oakes, who had 18 digs and two assists. That's the most digs Oakes has posted over her last seven contests.
Croatan's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for West Carteret, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2.
