Recap: University Hawks vs. Classical Magnet Gladiators
After flying high against Achievement First last Thursday, the University Hawks came back down to earth. University's tough 77-54 loss to Classical Magnet on Monday might stick with them for a while. The result was an unpleasant reminder to University of the 95-78 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Despite the loss, University still got an impressive performance from Malik Rich, who scored 26 points. That was a full 48.1% of University's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Appiah-Hagan, who scored 11 points.
University has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Classical Magnet, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4.
University will face off against Wilcox RVT at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Classical Magnet, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Branford at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Connecticut (Classical Magnet is ranked 93rd, while Branford is ranked 95th).
