The Westminster Catawba Christian Indians will square off against the Hickory Christian Academy Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hickory Christian Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Westminster Catawba Christian, who comes in off a win.
Westminster Catawba Christian took a 16-run defeat the last time they faced off against NorthPoint Christian Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Westminster Catawba Christian sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over NorthPoint Christian Academy on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Brayden Giesler made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He also launched a home run, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Campbell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Another player making a difference was James Reinhardt, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Hickory Christian Academy's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Thursday. They fell just short of Pinnacle Classical Academy by a score of 8-7. The loss was the Knights' first of the season.
Like Westminster Catawba Christian, Hickory Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Jared Zientek. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Zientek was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Zientek wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Moore, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Having lost for the first time this season, Hickory Christian Academy fell to 3-1. As for Westminster Catawba Christian, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Westminster Catawba Christian beat Hickory Christian Academy 5-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2019. Does Westminster Catawba Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hickory Christian Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
