Volleyball Recap: Lucy Beckham Starts Season with Victory at Home

Lucy Beckham took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They blew past the James Island Trojans 3-0. The Bengals have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

While Lucy Beckham might've won, it sure wasn't easy: James Island scored at least 20 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-20, 26-24.

Lucy Beckham was led to victory by Falon Elliott and Olivia McGowan. Elliott had 16 assists and two aces, while McGowan had seven digs and four aces. Those seven digs gave McGowan a new career-high.

James Island's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Lucy Beckham will take on Bishop England in a tournament on Friday. As for James Island, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Cane Bay on the 28th.
