Softball Recap: Wisconsin Lutheran Vikings vs. Greendale Panthers

Wisconsin Lutheran put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Greendale Panthers a 12-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Vikings considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Sydney Vitangcol made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 13 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Reese Grudzielanek and Zhana Guenther did most of the damage at the plate: Grudzielanek went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Guenther scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those four hits gave Grudzielanek a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Solie, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
