Softball Recap: Sullivan Gets the Win

Sullivan let Robinson stack five runs on them in the third inning on Tuesday but luckily Sullivan prevailed anyway. The Redskins came out on top in a nail-biter against the Maroons, sneaking past 10-9. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Redskins.

The team relied heavily on Taylar Mercer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Kylee Freese was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sullivan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.

Sullivan's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Robinson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Sullivan will square off against Okaw Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Redskins are facing the Timberwolves at the right time seeing as the Timberwolves are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Robinson, they will take on Richland County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Maroons surely won't give up without a fight.
