Basketball Game Preview: Panther Creek Panthers vs. Lake Dallas Falcons

The Panther Creek Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Lake Dallas Falcons at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Panther Creek sitting on eight straight victories and Lake Dallas on seven.

Panther Creek is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Aubrey: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Panther Creek blew Aubrey out of the water with a 65-26 final score. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Lake Dallas won against Van Alstyne on Saturday with 42 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Lake Dallas claimed a resounding 42-15 win over Aubrey. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Chaparrals are ranked 988th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Panther Creek better keep an eye on Maizen Gillam. She was instrumental in Lake Dallas' win, going 6 for 14 on her way to 16 points and six rebounds. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Gillam has scored at least a third of Lake Dallas' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Presley Scott, who posted five points and six assists.

Panther Creek has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Lake Dallas, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9.

Panther Creek didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Lake Dallas in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 49-45 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Panther Creek since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
