Paloma Valley took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Hemet, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, sneaking past 9-7. The win was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Paloma Valley let Meghan Bradley and Kayla McGee run wild. Bradley scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances, while McGee scored a run while going 2-for-2. That's the most stolen bases Bradley has posted since back in March. Ashlynn Ferguson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Paloma Valley's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-7. As for Hemet, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Paloma Valley is set to square off against their familiar foe Valley View at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Hemet will take on rival Poly at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 2.2, the Bears 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
