            Softball Recap: Lakeside Warriors vs. Byrd Yellow Jackets        
        
		
        
        
            Lakeside proved they can win big  last Tuesday (they won by ten) and  on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Byrd Yellow Jackets  9-7. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
 McKenna Chreene was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she  struck out nine batters over  seven innings while giving up  six earned runs off   ten  hits. She has been consistent  recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Raleah Harris, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-4. What's more,  she posted three  RBI, the most she's  had since back in April of 2024.  Rhea Waller was another key player,  scoring two  runs while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 Lakeside  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 12  hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  got at least ten  hits in six consecutive  contests.

Lakeside pushed their record up to 13-2 with the  win, which was their 13th straight  at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Byrd, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record  this season.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeside will welcome Cedar Creek  at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday. As for Byrd, they will face off against Huntington at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
