Football Recap: Caleb Franklin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Franklin Christian Academy over Friendship Christian

Franklin Christian Academy dropped to 4-4 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Friendship Christian Commanders, falling 31-10. Having soared to a lofty 43 points in the game before, the Falcons couldn't push the score so high this time.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caleb Franklin, who picked up 100 receiving yards and one touchdown. Franklin really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 71 yards. Jase Toms was another key player, having thrown for 331 yards and onetouchdown.

As for Friendship Christian, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.6 points on average over those games.

Leading Friendship Christian to victory were Jayden McGowan and Blake Waldorf. McGowan rushed for 137 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, while Waldorf rushed for 48 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards McGowan has posted since back in August.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Franklin Christian Academy is set to challenge their familiar foe Clarksville Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Friendship Christian will square off against rival Mount Juliet Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
