Volleyball Recap: Spring Valley Cardinals vs. New Richmond Tigers
Spring Valley had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Richmond Tigers on Tuesday. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-14.
Katie Matthys paced Spring Valley's offense, picking up six kills. Matthys got some help from Addison Nelson and her nine assists. Riley Zimmerman controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Among those leading the charge was Jericho Monson, who had nine digs and one assist. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September of 2024.
New Richmond pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Coincidentally, Spring Valley and New Richmond will both be playing Hayward the next time they take the court. The Cardinals will head out to face the Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Tigers will host them at 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
