Football Recap: Mcgavock Starts Season with Loss on the Road + How To Watch

McGavock had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were dealt a 46-6 loss at the hands of the Maplewood Panthers on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Maplewood was led to victory by Jaden Steele and Jayon Washington. Steele rushed for 139 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, while Washington rushed for 35 yards and three touchdowns. Steele was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. Ton Cartwright was in the mix too, providing Maplewood with one TD.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McGavock will head out to square off against Hunters Lane at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Maplewood, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Goodpasture Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
