Baseball Recap: Three Straight Home Wins for Grandview

Grandview's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Rice Bulldogs. The win continues a trend for the Zebras in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.

Barron Dixson and Aaron Willingham dominated on the mound. Dixson struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits, while Willingham tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave Dixson a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Easton Ebner was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Reed Calvert, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Grandview pushed their record up to 10-13-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Rice, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

Grandview will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
