Softball Recap: Johnson City Sets Scoring Season-High Against Goldthwaite

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Johnson City). They blew past Goldthwaite 22-2 on Tuesday. Considering Johnson City has won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sara Kuvet made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Johnson City got a massive performance out of Madison Marshall, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave Marshall a new career-high in home runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Clark, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

Johnson City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .743. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Johnson City has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-1-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Goldthwaite and nudges their season record down to 2-8.

Coming up, Johnson City will venture away from home to take on Mason at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Goldthwaite, they will host Center Point at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
