Baseball Recap: Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs vs. Pueblo South Colts
Pueblo Centennial had lost 11 straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-13 to make it 12. They came up short against the Pueblo South Colts, falling 9-3. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Colts from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
Pueblo Centennial saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Gehrett, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
As for Pueblo South, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-5. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 15th (when they won 10-0).
On Pueblo South's side, Camron Montoya spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Montoya has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Pueblo South got a big performance out of Kade Ortiz, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Nolasco, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Coincidentally, Pueblo Centennial and Pueblo South will both be playing Pueblo Central the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Colts will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
