Lafayette gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Parkway Central Colts by a score of 2-0. The victory was familiar territory for the Lancers, who have now won seven contests in a row dating back to last season.

Lafayette not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Parkway Central between 17 and 18 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-17.

Shaye Witherspoon paced Lafayette's offense, picking up nine kills. Witherspoon got some help from Hailey Lowery and her 16 assists. Witherspoon was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Coincidentally, Lafayette and Parkway Central will both be playing Pattonville the next time they take the court. The Colts will head out to face the Pirates at 5:15 p.m. on Friday, while the Lancers will play them later in the day, at 6:15 p.m.
