Basketball Game Preview: Long Rebels vs. Abbeville Yellowjackets

Long is 1-9 against Abbeville since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Long Rebels will head out to challenge the Abbeville Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Long is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since December 5, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Brantley by a score of 64-62. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 77th).

Meanwhile, Abbeville didn't have too much trouble with Barbour County on Friday as they won 60-46.

This is the second loss in a row for Long and nudges their season record down to 12-5. As for Abbeville, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.

Long came up short against Abbeville in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 59-51. Can Long avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
