The Hunterdon Central Red Devils will venture away from home to face off against the Vernon Vikings at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hunterdon Central is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Hunterdon Central will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Bridgewater-Raritan, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Red Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Panthers on Thursday.
Liam Goyette and Jake Masterton dominated on the mound. Goyette pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits, while Masterton pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Trevor Wallace, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nik Holot, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Vernon's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost 7-1 to Wallkill Valley. The game marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Vernon also got a good showing from Joe Esposito, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Esposito has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Hunterdon Central, their win bumped their record up to 12-10.
Hunterdon Central got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Vernon by a conclusive 10-1 score. Do the Red Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
